This blog is a companion site to our practice website. Here you'll find the latest news and information about our practice and Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy medicine. You can ask our physicians general medical questions with our "share care" feature, though due to privacy rules specific requests for medications or test results cannot be answered via share care and should be called into the office at 610-415-1100. Our new "patient portal" will be available soon to handle these requests online.

Breakthrough treatment for tinnitus.

Neuromonics is clearly the most effective treatment for tinnitus sufferers who do not get relief from hearing aids. As I noted in a previous post about successful tinnitus treatments, 90% of patients find relief of their symptoms with Neuromonics.

Neuromonics improves on previous treatments by combining several partially successful ones, like masking and tinnitus retraining/biofeedback, and then enhances those results through neural pathway desensitization. A recent article in the Baltimore Sun notes that the US Department of Defense has taken an interest in Neuromonics to help soldiers who suffer from tinnitus as a result of loud noise exposure.
Only a few research centers in the US, like Duke University, have offered Neuromonics until recently. Neuromonics is now available at ENT and Allergy Specialists for our patients.
